Music - I Go From Screamo, to Mozart, to Japanese Pop, to Techno, What In the World Is Wrong With Me?

Look it's a pencil! Yeah, I made that beast. My Graphic Design class is beast and so this is pencil..

Okay, I thought about this morning when my mom was taking me to before-school band practice. I need to remind ya'll that I do tend to repeat myself often and when I do do that, please, just smile and nod. Just smile and nod.

Music, let's talk about music today. All right.

Now, music is a main inspiration in my life. It's what fuels my drive while writing, its the soundtrack of my life. I always listen to music when I write, it's a must. Unless I'm reading something outloud to myself, it can't be like vocal music, it has to be just music. And I usually listen to music that matches the moment, like if it's a sad moment - sad music and epic moment, epic music. Makes sense right?

As you are reading this, I am listening to music. It's my usual jam, Killswitch Engage. I usually have certain songs/bands depending on what I'm doing. If I'm writing COHJ, I listen to I Am Ghost. If I'm just checking my blog and Facebook - Falling in Reverse. Homework - Daft Punk. Writing SoE - Reliant K. Writing Xenophobia - August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine. Playing the Sims 2 - Hatsune Miku. Writing RIGAM - Imogen Heap. Playing Halo - Killswitch Engage. On the bus to a band competition - Breaking Benjamin.

It really depends. There are just a few bands that I've been listening a lot to lately. As you can tell...

There are tons of bands that I absolutely love, some of them are on my profile for blogger. Some are on KP and I think on a survey I took one time, I tried to list them all out and the list was massive.

As of my taste of music, I'm really flexible with music... to an extent. I will NOT under any circumstances, listen to country or rap. Not a hope in hell. I will NOT. Country singers all sound the same to me and it's always about either a break up, drinking with bros, trucks and my favorite one of all: She Thinks My Tractor is Sexy. Honestly. I don't think ANY vehicles is... "sexy". It's always tractor this and John Deere that. You guys know I'm Texan and not ALL of us act that way...

Rap is stupid. Why bother?

I'll just touch this subject, I'll get into it more next week I think: I have something to say about pop these days. It's all about the same things: shitty relationships, drinking, drugs, sex and clubbing. It's stupid, why listen to it? "Oh because it's meaningful" Okay, I listen to it: "Girl lets get down, and get this goin' and I don't wanna take it slow, I wanna make it quick. No regrets, let's do it," That's what I think every time I go to the grocery store. And those were just random lyrics, that's not an actualy song but I would not be surprised if it were close.

I am a big fan of screamo. And the first thought running through your head: "DEVIL WORSHIPPER" Uh, excuse me, but I grew up listening to that type of music and every screamo band I listen to are Christian. They scream/rock about God, believe it or not. Just because they sound angry all of the time, doesn't mean they are. Screaming is just a powerful way to deliver a good song. Music is powerful and it makes it even more intense. And screaming is a friggin' ART guys. Anyone can do it although a lot of people can't. It takes a lot of strength from the diaphram and if you don't do it right, you can majorly damage your vocal cords. I've actually... being the weirdo that I am, I actually know how to do a low growl but it's not loud enough to be heard because I'm shy... :3

Some of the screamo bands I listen to are Falling in Reverse, Escape the Fate, August Burns Red, Bullet for my Valentine, All that Remains, As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Killswitch Engage, Korn, Godsmack, and I Am Ghost. Those are the ones I can think of...

Now I do love classical music. Like Mozart and Beetovan. I'm a sucker ofr it, as I am for frilly dresses believe it or not... Look up Marie Antoniette and she is what I love.

Japanese Pop... I am an addict. I'm actually listen to some right now. Hatsune Miku is what got me into Japanese Pop. She is a DIVA and she's amazing. Her music is so meanigful and the guy that writes her lyrics is a friggin' genius. And Japanese Pop has great meanings behind it. I've never heard a song where they talk about sex and drugs. It's amazing! I wish Americans did that. Look her up, you won't regret it.

Also, I do love the singer and cellist Kanon Wakeshima. She is my LIFE. She's like this beautiful doll that's come to life. I wish I were as beautiful as her and her voice is so pure and cute! I found her out because of an anime I watched, Vampire Knight. Yeah, me... watching something to do with Vampires? Yeah, it was amazing. Watch it.

But... I cannot forget the classics that I've been listening to from the beginning. My dad is a real music junkie and he got me into bands like The Beatles, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, ADCD and Guns and Roses. I listen to those bands and think, "WOW". The song Juke Box Hero by Foreigner is like the story of my childhood! My dad loved that song and he played it all the time.

Sorry if this sounds kinda rushed today... I was scrambling to get done something in Illustrator. I drew Ferb from Phineas and Ferb. Here's what I got so far:

YEAH, look at that hand!! :D It's awful... lol. Looks like it got ran over.

What type of music do you like? Do we have any bands in common with each other? I don't know... you tell me.

Comment, check the boxes, feed my koi and stay tuned.

  2. I like almost all music. Just not rap, and I don't like some newer pop as much. I haven't listened to much of it. Also, some older country I don't really like. ^_^
    Laaaaaaaa… I like older pop, rock, country. I think that's basically it…

    Pop:
    John Denver
    Cat Stevens

    Country:
    Keith Urban
    Toby Keith
    Clay Walker
    Lonestar

    Rock:
    Simon & Garfunkel
    My Chemical Romance
    Bon Jovi
    The Eagles
    The Beatles

Plus some others… The Beatles aren't my favorite. I've listened to Escape The Fate one time. They were good. ^_^ I really need more music… I can't really use Youtube or Grooveshark, or other things like that, because our internet sucks, and I don't have much money to buy music with.

Those are totally awesome pictures. ^_^

  3. Dude! I kept LOLing at your blog and reading random excerpts of it to my sis-it's hillarious! XD Which is a good thing, obviously :P

For example, that part about a tractor being sexy. I found that just... wow :P Who in the world would sing about that?

I agree with you there-I hate rap and country. I also am not a fan of Taylor Swift, but I guess she could be categorized under country ^_^ I don't think I've heard Screamo before... :(

Epik pencil and Ferb, by the way :)

I didn't know Hatsune Miku's lyrics were meaningful O_O I vaguely remember one of them about being a princess or something :P

The music I listen to is epical :) Some people call it classical, but I REFUZZLE TO ASSOCIATE EPICAL WITH CLASSICAL :O Not that I hate classical. In fact, I have a ton of Mozart and Beethoven's songs stored on my computer :) However, if you listen to a classical song and then compare it to a song like Sons of War by Two Steps From Hell, Strength of a Thousand Men by TSFH, Serenata Choir by Immediate Music, or Guardians of the Gate by AudioMachine... I can promise you, there will be blood.

    Lots of blood.

    :P

Ooooh! I also LOOF hip hop songs, and some techno. I like the beat, but when the lyrics get out of hand... *morphs into the Indredible Hulk*
